Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens – Specters of The Past

For the past few months, I have been working on a fan edit of the new Star Wars movie. The idea of this edit is to prolong the reveal of Kylo Ren’s parentage. While some have gone so far as to remove any mention of parental content until the later scenes, I have opted to edit bits and pieces that result in ambiguous hints in order to create a mystery for the first time viewer. This edit is meant to imply without revealing. The ultimate reveal is given by Kylo’s father himself. This mirrors the themes of earlier Star Wars adventures and hopefully acts to enhance the mystery of Kylo Ren.

Another focus of this edit was to bring the tone closer to the original films. There is humor, but some of the more over the top moments have been dialed back and trimmed to keep the movie from feeling overly silly at times.

This edit has required a crash course of implementing new skills, learning new programs, and most of all collaborative thought. Many thanks go out to the fanedit.org and originaltrilogy.com community members. In particular, a huge thanks to ssj, Zarius, Smithers, ironman23, Canon Editor, and revel911 for their active ongoing support.

Once accepted and approved by the fanedit.org academy, the project will be released as a 1080p Blu Ray, 1080p MP4, and 720p MP4.

Here is a preview for this project:
